Camp Adventure Is In Full Swing!

Here at Tucson Country Day School, Camp Adventure is in full swing, and campers are having so much fun, it’s been overheard that they are already planning to come back next year!

With approximately 170 students who will enter first through eighth grade in the Fall (and another 100 students who are 3, 4 and 5), the kids are keeping busy with exciting activities scheduled throughout each day. Camp Adventure has a staff of 40, most of whom are returning employees from previous years, and many are TCDS teachers.

Each camp day begins at 8:00 am with morning flag, announcements and “Swimmers of the Day.” From there, campers head to a variety of activities (our 3, 4 and 5 year-old campers have a modified schedule and only participate in some the following activities):

*swim instruction and free swim complete with a team of lifeguards*

                 *archery and outdoor education*

                 *dance*

                 *music*

                 *art*

                 *technology*

                 *science*

                 *lunch*

                 *indoor games*

Wow, what a fun-filled day!

Camp concludes for the day at 3:30 pm with a closing flag ceremony. Children can also attend before-care beginning at 6:30 am, as well as after-care which is open until 6:00 pm.

Camp Adventure attendees are split into separate grade levels, with camp counselors heading up each group.  Once a month, every 1st through 8th grade group goes on a field trip.  Bowling, a Peter Piper Pizza kitchen tour and the movie theater are just a few of the field trips the camp directors have planned. Every Thursday, the seventh and eighth graders participate in a community service project. An upcoming project will focus on downtown Tucson. Special presentations take place at Camp Adventure too. Presenters include National Park Service employees and a reptile specialist.

Each week has a different theme here at Camp Adventure:

                          Week 1: Camper Spirit

                                   Week 2: Hero Week

                                       Week 3: Pirate Week

                                           Week 4: Cultural Celebration

Camp Adventure wraps up each themed week with all of the campers joining together for games or a parade and a special treat!

We will be taking pictures and will post some great photos that capture the many exciting adventures of our campers. Stay tuned for the highlights from each entertaining week at Camp Adventure!
